Systems Engineer, Digital Systems
You will have a strong background in developing software for real time systems, together with skills in specifying and designing digital hardware.
Required attributes include a degree in Computer Science or similar degree with a strong software content, and experience in embedded software development using C or C++. Highly desirable would be an active interest in aviation, experience using VHDL for FPGA design, and experience with DO-178B or DO-254 development environments.
Graduate Software Engineer
Job summary
Do you aspire to use your software skills within the world of aviation and high technology? We've a superb opportunity for the right person to work at the heart of our business - writing software in C++ for aircraft data bus interfaces, digital signal processing and software defined radio systems. This is a rare chance to join our world-leading avionics engineering team where you will be involved in developing some of aviation's smartest software solutions.
Job Description
You'll be part of a small team, responsible for writing software - mostly in C or C++ to implement the system architecture and requirements for one of our aircraft sub systems. You will also be involved in documenting and testing the software.
You'll be part of a structured environment where testing and review is shared with your peers to assure independence, so you will be quickly exposed to all aspects of the process. Our software development methods follow the aviation standard DO-178B.
Don't worry if this is new to you, for the right candidate we will provide a combination of external training and on-the-job training to get you up to speed.
All of our embedded systems run on ARM family processors. Our development environment uses conventional networked Windows PC's with cross-compilers and ICE pods to host the IDE on the PC whilst running code in the target.
Skills / Experience
- You must be fluent in English.
Whilst not a requirement, preference will be given to candidates who have:
- A strong interest in aviation - a current pilot's licence would be tremendous.
- A working knowledge of another European language.
Qualifications
As a graduate, you'll have a good degree in Computer Science, or a directly related joint honours degree with a significant amount of software engineering content.
